Dr. Ivan Chaidez brings 24 years of experience in education, marked by a steadfast commitment to equitable student outcomes and culturally responsive learning environments. Effective August 2, 2024, Dr. Chaidez will serve as the Superintendent of the Oak Grove School District, following his notable tenure as Assistant Superintendent. His eight-year tenure in this role includes five years in the Educational Services Division and three years in Human Resources, demonstrating his versatility and leadership across various educational domains.

Dr. Chaidez's career encompasses significant roles such as teacher, assistant principal, principal, Executive Director of Innovation and Achievement, and Director of English Language Learner and Student and Community Services in the Napa Valley Unified School District. His leadership has been instrumental in the implementation of significant initiatives and Board Resolutions, showcasing his capacity to drive positive change and innovation within the educational system.

Dr. Chaidez's academic journey is equally impressive. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chicana/o Studies and Spanish from the University of California, Davis, a Master of Science in Educational Administration, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts. His academic credentials underpin his strategic approach to fostering respect, collaboration, and teamwork among labor groups, teachers, and administrators.

Known for his authentic leadership style, Dr. Chaidez is passionate about creating safe and inclusive learning environments. His dedication to the academic achievements and well-being of students, staff, and educational partners aligns with the mission and vision of the Oak Grove School District. Dr. Chaidez is driven by a moral imperative to support immigrant families and the Latinx student population, a commitment rooted in his own upbringing in Salinas, CA.

Dr. Chaidez's accolades include being named Teacher of the Year in 2003 and as Principal led his school to become a California Distinguished School in 2007. As the Past President of the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA), he has consistently advocated for the Latinx community and at-promise students.

Dr. Chaidez is eager to collaborate with the Oak Grove School District community to ensure equitable opportunities and best practices, with a focus on social justice and inclusivity. His goal is to achieve positive, student-centered outcomes and district-wide excellence, steering the district toward new heights.
