On March 27, 2024, Superintendent Manzo announced his decision to retire as Superintendent of the Oak Grove School District after serving in the role for 12 years. On March 28, 2024, the Oak Grove School District Board of Trustees announced their commitment to ensure a smooth transition and selection of a new superintendent. A New Superintendent Feedback Survey was open to all staff, parents/guardians and community members from March 28, 2024 to April 12, 2024.
During the regular Board Meeting held on April 18, 2024, the OGSD Board of Trustees thanked everyone who submitted their feedback for the New Superintendent. Attached below you will find the link to the New Superintendent Search Feedback and Timeline. The board hopes to finalize their selection and announce the new Superintendent by May 20, 2024.

April 22, 2024 - Superintendent position posted for Internal applicants only.
May 6, 2024 - Superintendent posting closed at 5:00pm
May 9, 2024 - Regular scheduled OGSD Board Meeting
May 20, 2024 - OGSD Board of Trustees will review applications and complete interview process in order to make an announcement no later than May 20, 2024.

Update (May 9, 2024) - The Oak Grove School Board of Trustees took action during closed session to appoint Dr. Ivan Chaidez, current Oak Grove Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources as the new Superintendent of the Oak Grove School District effective Monday, August 5, 2024. Oak Grove School Board Appointment of New Superintendent
The Board is convinced that we have found an internal candidate whose characteristics, qualifications, background, and experience align perfectly with our needs. The Board extends its gratitude to everyone who took the time to provide feedback through the survey sent out on March 28, which remained open until April 12. We also appreciate the participation of the District Advisory Committee and the Home & School Club Presidents in a facilitated feedback session on April 11. All feedback received was reviewed thoroughly by the Board.
As a result, we have taken decisive action to appoint Dr. Ivan Chaidez as the new Superintendent, effective August 5, 2024. Dr. Chaidez's resume, which can be found here, showcases his exceptional strengths and qualifications for this pivotal role.
With 8 years of experience as Assistant Superintendent, including 5 years in the Educational Services Division and 3 years in Human Resources, Dr. Chaidez brings a wealth of expertise. Over his 24-year career, he has held various crucial roles such as teacher, assistant principal, and Principal. Additionally, he has served as the Executive Director of Innovation and Achievement and the Director of English Language Learner and Student and Community Services in the Napa Unified School District. Dr. Chaidez has played a pivotal role in implementing major initiatives and Board Resolutions, demonstrating his leadership capabilities.
Dr. Chaidez's educational background is equally impressive, with a Bachelor's Degree from UC Davis, Teacher and Administrative Credentials, a Masters in Education, and a Doctorate Degree from the University of Massachusetts. Throughout his career, he has fostered a culture of respect, collaboration, and teamwork among labor groups, teachers, and administrators.
Selecting the superintendent is one of the Board's major responsibilities, and your input has been invaluable throughout this critical decision. The Board is wholeheartedly confident that Dr. Chaidez will steer our district to new heights, and we eagerly anticipate this exciting new chapter for the Oak Grove School District.
