Oak Grove School Board Appointment of New Superintendent
The Board is convinced that we have found an internal candidate whose characteristics, qualifications, background, and experience align perfectly with our needs. The Board extends its gratitude to everyone who took the time to provide feedback through the survey sent out on March 28, which remained open until April 12. We also appreciate the participation of the District Advisory Committee and the Home & School Club Presidents in a facilitated feedback session on April 11. All feedback received was reviewed thoroughly by the Board.

As a result, we have taken decisive action to appoint Dr. Ivan Chaidez as the new Superintendent, effective August 5, 2024. Dr. Chaidez's resume, which can be found here, showcases his exceptional strengths and qualifications for this pivotal role.

With 8 years of experience as Assistant Superintendent, including 5 years in the Educational Services Division and 3 years in Human Resources, Dr. Chaidez brings a wealth of expertise. Over his 24-year career, he has held various crucial roles such as teacher, assistant principal, and Principal. Additionally, he has served as the Executive Director of Innovation and Achievement and the Director of English Language Learner and Student and Community Services in the Napa Unified School District. Dr. Chaidez has played a pivotal role in implementing major initiatives and Board Resolutions, demonstrating his leadership capabilities.

Dr. Chaidez's educational background is equally impressive, with a Bachelor's Degree from UC Davis, Teacher and Administrative Credentials, a Masters in Education, and a Doctorate Degree from the University of Massachusetts. Throughout his career, he has fostered a culture of respect, collaboration, and teamwork among labor groups, teachers, and administrators.

Selecting the superintendent is one of the Board's major responsibilities, and your input has been invaluable throughout this critical decision.  The Board is wholeheartedly confident that Dr. Chaidez will steer our district to new heights, and we eagerly anticipate this exciting new chapter for the Oak Grove School District.

"As a Board, it was imperative for us to select an individual who not only possesses the necessary skills and expertise to carry out the superintendent's daily responsibilities but also embodies a genuine commitment to serving our community. We are confident that Dr. Chaidez's extensive experience in education spanning over two decades reflects a deep alignment with the vision and values of the Oak Grove School District. With his proven dedication, we trust that he will foster collaboration, cultivate partnerships, champion equity and inclusivity, and cultivate a shared decision-making environment that empowers every student to reach their fullest potential." Dr. Taunya Jaco, Oak Grove School Board Vice President.

As shared by Dr. Chaidez, "Thank you to our Board of Education and the OGSD Community for the opportunity to serve you all as your next Superintendent in our great district, which I love. I am humbled, grateful, and excited for the opportunity to collaborate and best support all our students, staff, families, and community.
