The district is located in the southeastern corner of San Jose, California bounded by Capitol Expressway to the north, Canoas Creek to the west, Bernal Road to the south and the foothills to the east.

Subsequent to setting core values and the vision statements, four critical areas of focus were determined (empowered employees, image, redesign, and community involvement).  Strategies were developed to lead the District to the attainment of the identified goals in each critical area. The success of the students, parents, and District is measured by identified standards and criteria (including performance rubrics) on six elements.
