Communications

District and School Communications

The Oak Grove School District recognizes the importance of communicating with parents and guardians to support all students academic success. The following tools are used for parent and guardian communication:

Blackboard Connect - OGSD uses Blackboard Connect for auto-communications using primarily phone calls, text messages and emails. An account is automatically created for each parent, using his or her preferred email address and mobile phone number.

Infinite Campus - allows us to collect demographic and contact information to provide parents with communication. It is very important for all parents to provide contact information on the student emergency form at the beginning of each school year: mailing address, mobile and home phone numbers, and email address. You can do this via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal or by contacting your school office if any changes need to be made.

District and School Websites - visit us at www.ogsd.net for information about the district and our schools.  Bookmark us and check back frequently for news and updates.

Social Media - YOU CAN BOOKMARK AND LIKE US!  The District and most schools use social media to share information.  District -  Facebook @Oakgrovesd  and  Twitter @Oakgrovesd

Check your school's website for its social media links.

Peachjar Flyer Distribution - is an electronic flyer distribution program.  Peachjar replaces paper flyers.  Through Peachjar, each school can send e-flyers to its families, and outside organizations can send approved e-flyers to all families in the district. Look for the Peachjar icon on your school’s website. Peachjar is used exclusively for distribution of district- and school-approved flyers

Superintendent Newsletter - sent four times a year to parents and staff with updates on the District programs, services and budget.

The Report Card - sent two times a year to all of the Oak Grove Community Residents with information on what is happening in the District.

Media Requests and Emergency Communication

Media Requests

All media requests to interview, videotape, or photograph Oak Grove School District Staff, Students, or Board Members should be made through the Superintendent's Office at (408) 227-8300 or email superintendent@ogsd.net.

Media on School Grounds: Before visiting a school campus, the Media should contact the Superintendent's Office. Media must remain on the public sidewalks and may not videotape or photograph any students/staff on campus unless arranged through the Superintendent's Office. When approved to videotape, photograph, or interview students and/or staff, a district representative will accompany the media to minimize disruption and assist with any additional requests.

Student Media Release: Federal and state law allow students and parents to opt out of the release of certain information about students, including photographs. The district works with each school to determine who has a photo/video release form on file and who cannot be photographed and interviewed.

Emergency/Crisis Communication: We will work as quickly as possible to provide accurate information to the media. Our first priority is ensuring the safety and security of students and staff and communicating about the emergency with staff and parents/guardians. We then work to provide timely information to the media on the emergency and its impact on students and staff. In an emergency, media may be assigned to a designated location to ensure their safety and minimize disruption to emergency response efforts. In the event of an emergency after hours please contact 911, First Alarm at 831-662-7455 or 408 448-9739.
