TEST SCORES CONTINUE TO RISE 

oAK Students advanced in English and Math according to recently released results from the 2018 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). The exams are administered to all 3-8th grade students each year in the areas of Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA).
 
In ELA, 54% of OGSD students met or exceeded standards. This represents a 4% increase from 2016-17 and a 7% increase from 2014-2015.  Our overall ELA results exceeded the state by 4% this year.  All grade levels showed an increase in ELA results in comparison to 2017.  The highest growth in ELA is grade 8 with +8%.
 
In math, 46% of Oak Grove students are meeting or exceeding the Math Standards.  This represents a 3% increase from 2016-17 and an 8% increase from 2014-2015.  Our overall math results exceeded the state by 7% this year. All grade levels showed a maintenance or increase in math results from 2017.  Fifth grade showed the highest growth with a 5% increase.

ADOPTION of ENGLISH LEARNER ROADMAP and BILITERACY ATTAINMENT AWARD

The Board of Trustees approved resolutions for the English Learner (EL) Roadmap and Biliteracy Attainment Award after district staff championed the need for such resolutions. California Department of Education stated that Oak Grove is the first district to adopt both the EL Roadmap and the Biliteracy Attainment Award in the State of California.

Full and Fair Funding of California's Public Schools

OGSD has joined districts across California calling on Legislature to fund public schools at the national average.
