Principal’s Message

Welcome to Sakamoto School! The Elementary School experience is a magical time for children as they develop their minds and hearts and become ready for future aspirations. At Sakamoto, our teachers and staff strive to nurture the whole child at their developmental level, inspire students with a passion for learning, and equip them with the skills they need for success in the 21st century.

This is a very exciting time in education! On our campus you see teachers integrating technology into the instructional delivery, and students using a variety of tools to learn, practice and present to their peers. Student collaboration and peer discussions create a buzz in our classrooms as students learn from each other. They are engaged in critical thinking, creative problem solving, and innovative approaches to the curriculum. With the new Common Core State Standards teachers are able to go deep with the curriculum and provide students unique opportunities for inquiry and discovery in their learning.

The whole Sakamoto School community has embraced our mantra to follow the ABCs – Act Responsibly, Be Respectful, and Care for Others. Social and emotional development and safety play an important role in our instructional program and we take pride in our positive behavior approach. We celebrate the diversity on campus and teachers and staff work together to foster a school culture of respect and compassion, and support students to meet their individual needs.

The strong community at Sakamoto is what makes our school so special and I invite you to become involved and stay connected. On this website you’ll find information about our parent groups, school events and publications. Also, please feel free to email, call or make an appointment. Your voice is important to me!
