Christopher School has a STEM program in grades 7 & 8.

Principal’s Message:

On behalf of the faculty and staff at Christopher School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school’s website.  Christopher School has enjoyed tremendous student success with our dedicated staff and innovative programs. We are a group of educators who will make a positive impact in the lives of your children. The goal of our incredible faculty and staff at Christopher School is that all students graduate as successful, literate and technology savvy members of society.

We are proud to focus on both safety and academic success. The SEAL, PBL, and the Christopher STEM Leadership program are key in meeting our academic goals.

Primary grade students experience the SEAL (Sobrato Early Academic Language) model of learning designed by Dr. Laurie Olsen, a national expert in English learner education. SEAL is designed as a comprehensive model of intensive, enriched language and literacy education designed for all students, starting in preschool and continuing through third grade.

Upper grade students experience the PBL (Project Based Learning) method of learning. PBL is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills through investigation and response to a complex question, problem, or challenge over an extended period of time. Essential Elements of PBL include: significant content, 21st Century Skills, Rigorous Inquiry, Driving Questions, Knowledge interest, and Student Voice. PBL motivates students to want to learn…it makes school challenging but fun.

Seventh and eighth grade students experience the Christopher STEM Leadership program. Our STEM Leadership program has received many accolades towards developing the 21st century skills of our young junior high aged students. They have been featured in technology magazines, on news programs, and most recently were asked to represent the Globaloria foundation as a national award recipient.   Program components include traditional content areas like reading, writing, math, science and social studies that are taught through a PBL and Blended learning model. There are also some unique components such as building leadership through The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey, learning a computer programing language (Adobe Flash) to build academic games, becoming a Mouse Squad member to explore the hardware side of computing, using Green Screen Technology to communicate ideas, and other exciting electives.

Thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to our partnership in building proud traditions and success at Christopher School.  GO COYOTES!!!
